This week Congress will vote on an amendment introduced by Rep. Jim McGovern of Massachusetts to the Foreign Operations appropriations bill that would close the School of the Americas.  The Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) at Ft. Benning, GA – formerly known as the School of the Americas (SOA) – has been teaching the techniques of torture since the end of the Second World War.  There has never been a more important time for the U.S. to send a message to the world that we respect human rights.  Tell your Rep. to vote YES on the McGovern amendment.
